The Trumpet was an opportunity to give a fresh look to the Savannah Technical College Foundation newsletter. The build was from the ground up without the influence of a prior design.

The name “trumpet” inspired a range of ideas for a logo — from a lily and vine motif to a brass trumpet. We eventually developed the idea of a herald crossed with a troubador character that was relative to the communicative purpose of the newsletter to use as a mascot. Heralds were originally messengers sent by monarchs or noblemen to convey messages or proclamations. In preparation, some visual research was done, several sketches were sketched and then the character was finished in Illustrator.
